Legendary Nigerian music star, Sound Sultan has been confirmed dead, died at the age of 44.
In a statement signed by his brother, Kayode Fasasi and his family, he died after battling with cancer.
The statement reads,
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Multi-talented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter, Onlanrewaju Fasasi a.k.a Sound Sultan.
Cause of death
Sound Sultan died after battling with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma at the age of 44.
He left behind, a wife, three children and his siblings and his lovely fans.
A brief history about the Legend
Sound Sultan started his music career in 1991, featuring in different music genres such as R&B, Afrobeats, Afro Soul and Nigerian Fuji Music.
He was the artist behind the massive hit track, “Jagbajantis” which was his first single released in 2000.
After releasing lots of singles and being featured by many artists, he was signed by Kennis Music after which he moved to Naija Ninjas.
In 2012, it was announced that the music star was made a UN ambassador for his exemplary lifestyle and career.
Personal Life
In 2009, Sound Sultan married his long term girlfriend, Chichi Morah, now known as Farida Fasasi from the Igbo ethnic group. The couple are blessed with three lovely children.
